Some of these pictures are not of the best quality but here are some food happenings lately.

Making the filling…

Blurry filling on puff pastry:

Covered and in the oven:

Homemade hot pockets!

Saw this sign when we were walking the Granada Bridge a couple of weeks ago and of course we were there.

This is just a few of the items that we had, egg noodles and cabbage, perogies, pickled beets,  and cheese pastries.

Some of the desserts that we brought home:

Basic stuff:

Cream Zucchini with pasta and cheese.

More to come as weekly dinners at the parents has returned with a cool twist.

I’ve collected quite a few random food photos over the past couple of weeks because I’ve been slacking off about posting them. We have been staying at Ted and Judy’s house while they are away so we have been eating all of their food (I mean, we have been eating some of the food they said we could have). Here are some of the random food things that have happened in our lives.

I made homemade cauliflower soup a couple of weeks ago.

M&M cookies made from a mix that my mother gave us. She only gives us stuff she doesn’t want.

Cooking for my Gram because this dish has two more types of tomatoes than I like:

No this isn’t space food. These are foods that we found in Judy and Ted’s kitchen. We ate them and haven’t died yet.lol

Mushroom soup and homemade whole wheat cheese biscuits. This shape looks familiar.

At work on Wednesdays the volunteer always brings cookies. This was last weeks cookies. Football season is here!

Yummy desserts made with angel food cake, chocolate sauce, and pluots.

Spinach Pie that I made. Yum.

A common meal at our place, stuffed zucchini, veggies, and bread.

The End.

“Fill a Plate” from Whole Foods. This turned out to be a good deal for even us vegetarians. If you ate meat it would be an awesome deal.

Of course, we shared a spicy vegetarian sushi roll as well. Yu,

The photos are unrelated and random this time. Ashley’s cousin is getting married next year and her Aunt is going to make these delicious little favors for the guests at the wedding. She tried them out and we got to taste. Basically, it is cake and icing mixed together and then dipped into a hard forming candy/chocolate. Double Yum.

A random plate of cookies.

Finally, here is my first attempt at a bento box typing thing arranged like little flowers. Carrot sticks, Annie’s Bunny Grahams, chocolate chips, mixed nuts and gobstoppers. (There was a sandwich underneath.)

Sometimes you need a good slap in the face to remind you of your drive and commitment to a cause.  Ashley and I both received this slap a couple of days ago during a routine visit to Sam’s Club.  At Sam Club’s we regularly purchase organic spinach, organic raspberries, and various fancy cheeses.  We seriously got a Sam’s membership because it saves us money to buy these few items there.  So we happened to go on a day when they had sampling stations set up all over the place.  We are mostly food snobs but free samples are very hard to resist especially with such friendly folks handing out food.

Here is a list of the questionable food items that we ate (though there were a few good items in the mix):

Grapes – green, red, and black

Pita chip and roasted red pepper hummus

Canned corn and Country Crock

Yogurt, instant mac and cheese, and sliced ham

Chocolate chip cookie and sour cream and chive chips

Eddy’s Dibs

Strawberry Toaster Strudel

BBQ chicken bites

Mini pepperoni pizza bites

Pork loin

Instantly, we began to feel ill, which reminded us of why we don’t eat most of those items.  We grabbed our selected items and got the hell out of there before the frozen pizza and taco bites were ready.

I’ve been trying to take photos of some of the dinners that we are having at home now that we are mostly organic and vegetarian. This was stuffed zucchini and home-made garlic bread from a few nights ago.  The zucchini was stuffed with veggies, cheese, and breadcrumbs.

This was multicolored (and multi-flavored) orzo pasta with peppers and mushrooms, and tomato for Ashley, with feta cheese crumbles.

I also found some older photos of before we were trying out the organic vegetarian thing (though we never ate a lot of meat).  This is a dinner that Ashley made for me one night (it may have been a special occasion at the time).  Mushroom Spaetzle and green beans is followed by a delicious looking chocolate souflee.

This was my first attempt at making sushi at home.  It is asparagus and mushroom.  If I remember correctly, it tasted good and looked okay.  I have made sushi since this attempt a couple of times but not recently.  Which reminds me that perhaps I should.

Dinner near Easter a couple of years ago.  I know this because the pastas are shaped like bunnies and eggs.  Pasta with pine nuts, broccoli, and brie is yummy. Also just a note, this was at Judy and Ted’s house and we have started influencing them with our organic and meatless food ventures.

For the first non restaurant review post on Mandi Munches, I am posting a list of food related blog entries from @ Vermont (my other blog).  I used to work at a Walk-in clinic and I would bring in photos of the food I made and/or ate the night before.  My co-workers always thought I was weird but clearly I was just meant to have a food blog.
